  • Bore Soliton Splash with Zweers & Thornton Sept. 2010 (speech):
    • Two solitons are generated by opening sluice gate; front one breaks into a bore, and crashes at end into linearly converging closed narrows.
    • Bore reflects, draws a trough so unbroken 2nd soliton crashes: yields 3-4m vertical jet ...
    • but only when water levels in canal & sluice gate are finely tuned; 41 vs. 90cm.
