Research in Applied Mathematics on
I am Applied Mathematician "British style" blending mathematical and numerical analysis, and challenging applications with insightful laboratory experiments, to advance science. This includes:
- Mathematical analysis of partial differential equations (PDE's), in particular hyperbolic ones with shocks.
- Mathematical theory of variational and Hamiltonian dynamics for PDE's, especially fluids, and numerical discretization.
- Computational Fluid Mechanics and numerical analysis.
- Challenging and inspiring geophysical applications in volcanology, granular flows, coastal and atmospheric dynamics.
- Laboratory experiments to stay down-to-Earth, on: granular, hydraulic & slurry flows.
- Volcanology research.
