Bio
Yvo
Boers obtained the M.Sc. degree (Dutch Ir.) in Applied Mathematics from the University of Twente, Enschede, The
Netherlands in 1994 with the systems and control group of Prof. Kwakernaak
and Prof. Bagchi. He obtained the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering,
specifically in the field of systems and control, in 1999 from Eindhoven
University of Technology, The Netherlands, in the group of Prof. van den
Bosch.
Since being employed at
THALES Nederland B.V. in Hengelo, the Netherlands,
he focused more on signal and data processing for detection, tracking,
classification, sensor control and fusion. Yvo actively conducts both
application oriented research as well as more fundamental research in these
fields. Yvo has been and is involved as a
researcher, initiator and leader in a multitude of international innovative
study projects, e.g. in the EU FP7, NWO (Dutch) and EDA (European) frameworks.
Starting 2008 Yvo is also an NWO-Casimir
fellow in the Stochastic Systems and Signals Group at the Applied Mathematics
department of the University
of Twente.
Yvo has served and
serves as a member on a number of different international advisory and
programming committees and forums for organizations such as IEEE, IEE, ISIF,
NATO, EURASIP and IFAC. Furthermore, he has (co)organized and (co)chaired
different conferences, symposia and tutorial activities for these
organizations. He also performs editorial and reviewing activities for
different scientific journals.
Starting
2011 Yvo is an elected member of the Board of Directors for the International
Society of Information Fusion (ISIF). Serving term 2011-2013.
Yvo has also given
numerous invited and plenary talks at conferences and symposia. He has also
taught several courses and tutorials in universities, research institutions,
companies and at conferences on an invitational basis. Yvo
has been and is the advisor for a large array of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students.
